Have you ever been stuck on a bad first date you organised online? It’s not a nice feeling.
If you’ve forgotten to arrange an emergency phone call from a mate (probably pretending your house is on fire or your cat has died) then you could be hit by a wave of panic.
“How am I going to get out of this pub?” you might ask yourself. Well, imagine if you were stuck up a HILL on that first date.
That’s apparently what happened to one woman in Amherst, Massachusetts, who was out hiking with a man she met on an app – but wasn’t so fond of him.
A police ‘blotter’ shared by Alexander Chee on Twitter reveals that cops were called out to assist when a woman fell ill while hiking.
But on closer inspection, they decided “the woman was just trying to get out of a date set up using the WeChat app.”
Greatest crime blotter item or greatest crime blotter item? http://pic.twitter.com/cXsUHtBnjd

Well, this is awkward.
According to the police, she “feigned illness instead of being more forthcoming about why she wanted to end the hike.”
She’s probably wishing she’d been more forthcoming now. We imagine she probably got a figurative slap on the wrist for wasting police time – or perhaps they took pity on her.

Chee’s post reminded other Twitter users of funny crime reports they had read, with one remembering a particular incident involving a ‘baby’ being found in a trash can.
.@alexanderchee Great. But greatest? I submit this for your consideration. http://pic.twitter.com/g50qfAWCQp

Another shared an incident where police refused to help a man look for his daughter’s hamster so he could get rid of it, claiming it would make her ‘resent police’.

And if that’s not enough to convince you that crime blotters are amazing, check out this one:
@alexanderchee I live in a REALLY small town with an excellent blotter. http://pic.twitter.com/L62gi1oXrI
